Phoenix Dancong Ao Fu Hou
An elite high-mountain Phoenix Dancong oolong that refreshes and comforts the senses with notes of golden gardenia and mineral-rich spring water. This rare Ao Fu Hou micro-lot undergoes a final bake, bringing out soul-warming aromas of cherrywood and berry pie.
The Ao Fu Hou mother tree is believed to be between 300–400 years old. It is a descendant of an ancient type of Dancong called “Huang Zhi Xiang” 黄枝香, which is the “yellow gardenia fragrance” type of Dancong. Ao Fu Hou is characterized by its uniquely potent flowery and fruity fragrances, elegant tannin, and mineral taste that is only found in elite teas from this high mountain terroir. Ao Fu Hou has a long-lasting aftertaste with intricate layers of fruits and floral nectar.
One of the key aspects of Dancong is the proper roasting and final baking of the tea. This artisan baking process is crucial to create a Maillard effect in the tea leaves, transforming fibers, pectin, and other natural compounds into sweet, aromatic flavors reminiscent of buttery baked pie crust or crisp wafers. This baked sweetness in premium Dancong oolong strikes a perfect balance with the tea's naturally fruity and floral character.
Ao Fu Hou is a truly rare Dancong oolong tea variety with an annual yield limited to approximately 3 kg of dry tea per mother tree. Real Ao Fu Hou is expensive and scarce because the cultivar is not widely grown. It also has a remarkably short harvest window, with only one to two optimal days for hand-picking at peak quality each season.
Ao Fu Hou exemplifies Phoenix Dancong's "one bush, one flavor" tradition, blending terroir, heritage, and tea craftsmanship.

Use 212°F boiling water.
Swiftly rinse the tea and discard rinse brew.
Proceed to infuse 1st brew for 20 seconds.
Infuse 2nd, 3rd and 4th brew for 20-30 seconds.
Repeat several more times at 45 seconds, brewing until the flavor and aroma of the tea dissipates. As the tea leaves expand and unfurl, the brewing time may increase to 1 minute to coax out more aroma and flavor. This tea can be brewed several times in one session.
