Wuyi Oolong Jin Mu Dan

Wuyi Oolong Jin Mu Dan

A medium-roasted Wuyi oolong that enchants the senses with orchid aromatics, fragrant stone fruits and honey nectar sweetness with a refined minerality true to its rock tea heritage.

Golden Peony (Jin Mu Dan) Oolong has an exquisite fragrance. Renowned for its unique, rich aroma, it has captivated the hearts of many tea enthusiasts. This batch boasts an inherent nectar sweetness and alluring floral scent. Originating from a distinguished lineage, Golden Peony was developed through the selective breeding of Tieguanyin as the female tea bush parent and Huangjingui as the male tea bush parent. This hybrid oolong bush results in a tea that beautifully inherits the elegant orchid fragrance of Tieguanyin, creating an enchanting aroma.

The exceptional geological and climatic conditions of the Wuyi mountainous region further enhance the character of Golden Peony Rock Tea oolong. The tea's thick and mellow rock essence allows it to possess both fragrance and depth. The flavor is soft and smooth, with a sweet, lingering rock essence that envelops the senses, leaving a fragrant aftertaste on the palate.

Golden Peony is grown in the Wuyi Mountains, a region where an esteemed series of oolong teas known as Rock Teas (Yan Cha) are produced. Golden Peony and other Rock Teas are cherished for their special balance and layers of floral, fruity, mineral and amino acid umami flavors, coupled with the complexity of fine tannin and strength. Oolong teas of this nature are often compared to fine wine. If Fenghuang Dancong is the Burgundy of tea, then Wuyi Rock Tea is the Bordeaux or Barolo.

There are lots of unique tasting and experiential descriptors that oolong tea tasters use to describe Wuyi Rock Tea. The "rock bones flowery aroma" (Yan Gu Hua Xiang) of high-quality Wuyi oolong tea is a captivating sensory experience that melds distinct elements of aroma, taste and flavor. The rock resonance (Yan Yun) and the rock bones flowery aroma are hallmarks of good Wuyi Rock Tea and the Wuyi region’s special soil and overall terroir. The "rock bones flowery aroma" of Wuyi oolong tea is a sophisticated interplay of floral fragrances, sweetness, mineral richness and a unique umami quality, making it a truly exquisite tea experience.
